"Do you remember Terry Monaghan? He is the guy who was doing all that research on the Savoy Ballroom. I'm certain you had spoken to him a few times. I just got word that Terry passed away a few days ago from a brain tumor. I had not heard from Terry in about six months and he did not return any of my emails. i knew his mother was ill so I just assumed he was consumed with taking care of her. It came as a total shock when I heard of his passing.
He had devoted at least that last 15 years to researching his book about the Savoy. Sadly he never got to see it finished. I have no idea what will happen to all the information he accumulated. He interviewed just about every musician he could find who was still alive who performed at that ballroom.
This appeared in today's New York Times."

I met him a few times and he was obviously passionate about the whole history of lindy hop and jazz dancing.
