Found in the liner notes of "Snowy Morning Blues, The Original Decca Recordings" (1930-44), referring to his contemporary Willie "The Lion" Smith's and other musicians dancing abilities:
"All of us used to be proud of our dancing...it made for attitude and stance when you walked into a place, and made you strong with the gals."
