Help finding D. Ellington & Bob Crosby songs...

#1 Post by tim » Sat Jul 28, 2007 12:07 pm

I recently bought a CD with the soundtracks to two WWII era films, 'Reveille With Beverly' and 'Jam Session'. I was surprised to find the first film contained a vocal version of "Big Noise From Winnetka" by Bob Crosby & His Orchestra [male lead vocals with a sweet female backing chorus] and a vocal version of "Take The 'A' Train" by Duke Ellington with female lead vocals and male backing vocals.

I absolutely love these vocal versions and had no idea they existed, however the sound quality of this CD is such that I might conclude it was dubbed from a VHS tape. We're talking low sound quality, probably not playable on a loud system without serious embarassment. Does anyone happen to know where I can find vocal versions of either of these tunes on other records or CDs? I've never heard either before but would love to get better quality recordings of both. Thanks a ton!
