You know who rules? Slam Stewart.

Feelin' the love for this CD.

Slam Stewart was the bassist for Slim Gaillard... on this CD he stretches out, gets "very mellow" as Slim would say, and plays those great bass/singing solos like you hear on the Slim Gaillard CDs.

The only problem I have with this album is the sucky last bonus track which is supposed to be funny but it just sucks. They should have left that one in the vault.

Favorite tracks (from memory, I could be off): Firebird, Hangover, My Blue Heaven.

Any other Slam appearances I should look out for?

People always ask me about the songs I play from that CD. There's some rad stuff on it.

It's easy to sit there and say you'd like to have more money. And I guess that's what I like about it. It's easy. Just sitting there, rocking back and forth, wanting that money.

Get the Black & Blue album, "Slam Bam." It rules, it's got Slam with Milt Buckner & Jo Jones. It might have my favorite version of "Flat Foot Floozie," along with "C Jam Blues," "Sunny Side of the Street," "Lady Be Good," "Moten Swing," and some other great tunes.

Cool, a timely thread for me. This is one of the CDs I picked up Friday at Amoeba. I will have to play a track during my next set.

I like the self-titled album from Black & Blue as well.
