Best of modern swing

#1 Post by LazyP » Tue Jun 08, 2004 7:23 am

Well, after a few months of work it's here. Our new compilation "Best of Modern Swing". Featuring Bill Elliott, George Gee, Jennie Löbel, Gunhild Carling, Blue Room Boys etc. All recordings from 1997 and later, 15 tracks of classic swing (almost)

Maybe not a cd for those of you who have lots of new stuff, but if you want a sampler of current artists this is it. All artists included on the album get paid for every copy we sell.
We really want this to be an eye-opener to introduce people to the great swing bands of today and at the same time support the artists.

PS. US distribution to stores is not ready yet. If you know of anyone who might be interested please let me know. Though of course we send to all over the world if you buy it in the web shop.

It looks like you have some quality selections on there, Patrik. I'm intrigued by the other songs and bands I've never heard of.

Thanks for your support.

It actually haven't been easy to get in touch with 15 bands, getting stuff sorted out and everyone having their say in which songs to use or not. And then getting and good mix of styles, tempos etc. I can't say I'm perfectly happy with the end result, but as always one has to settle at some point and get it finished. I still think It's a good album which I hope many people will enjoy. One part of the goals have also been to make a cd that will sell to the general jazz audience and not only to lindy hoppers (since lindy hoppers don't really buy that many cds), and this has of course influenced the choice of songs, though all songs are stuff I enjoy dancing to.

If you have any questions about specific bands or songs just let me know and I'll post some more info about them.

I'd just thought I'd let you know that the cd actually exists now. It was printed and ready 29th of june (though I've been on conference and on holiday since then)

Distribution release will be in august, so it will not be available in stores before end of august.

Until then you can find it in our webshop. Or from Marcus & Bärbl at Camp Hollywood (if they don't sell all their copies when they're in Bergen).

You might want to actually answer your customer's question.
