Re: First time DJing an Exchange
I'm not sure there's that much difference between DJing a 'normal' dance and one at an Exchange. The key is keeping the people in the room happy. When DJing any scene that's new to you, I think it's a good idea to check it out before you DJ. So if you are DJing at, say, midnight on the first night, ...

Re: How long should individual swing or DJ sets be?
I prefer shorter sets. I've done quite a few nights where we've had, say, 2 DJs alternating, doing 2 sets each. When we've done alternating 45 minute sets I think it's worked well. I find if I do long sets of several hours, I get mentally tired.

Re: Lindyfest - All Star J&J
Hey everyone, I'd love your help trying to ID a song. It's the song that comes on for the first couple. I know it's "A Touch of Boogie" but it doesn't quite sound like the Teddy Wilson version. Sounds newer... https://youtu.be/A2jYCsMEiOs?t=1m6s Thanks in advance! :) I don't know that son...

seems to be attracting more listeners over time (is that right Jesse?), while this forum's numbers decline. Why is that?

Re: Question about DJing at out of town events
Are you already traveling a lot and attending and dancing at many of these events you are interested in DJing at? If so, great. Continue to do so, get to know the organizers, the fellow DJs and maybe even offer to DJ a volunteer spot to get your foot in the door and make a positive impression. If y...
