if you copy the library file along, you'll get the ratings, too. i just over-write the one on the laptop every time i copy new music to the external drive. you do lose all the playlist info that you created on the laptop this way, so if you care about that... Re: iTunes sync to laptop
How are you currently synching between desktop and laptop? Lipi's suggestion of using an external drive is probably the most commonly used method. But you could tag your files so that you can extract only the files you want to use for djing. And you could export the relevant playlists and import th...

I had totally forgotten that the competition music thread started out with exactly the same sorts of questions :) The contest in question is actually a blues contest not a lindy one, but I figured the same guidelines would apply. I did get an answer to my email, but interestingly the one q...

Re: If you could book any modern act...?
I love Pink Martini live, but they typically play about one swing song a night (with the rest being ballads and salsa generally).

I am, but not in a way that adding another word is going to be a problemJesseMiner wrote: That has been my solution so far. Works (fine) as long as you aren't already using the comments field for something else.

Re: keeping libraries in sync?
ITunes keeps track of the ratings through its own database, which in my book is a pitfall. But you can try transferring the database to the laptop. Unless I'm missing something this only works if you transfer your entire music database, which in my case wouldn't fit on my laptop. I'm trying to just...
