I doubt they are clear when played at dances, but I can hear one of the glitches quite clearly when listening to the allmusic.com clip right now. It's true - at a dance it's often quite noisy and sloppy edits (old and new  ) are hardly ever noticed. Except when you know about them, of course....

So, does anyone have an unedited version of Goody Goody? Mine is from 75th Birthday Celebration...

(Or could this have been an original tape edit because it is quite late (1952)?)

Songs that speed up

Many swing songs speed up a few bpm from start to finish, but it's so little that people hardly notice. But other songs are quite extreme in that respect - and great fun! A good way to build energy. Four Clefs - I Like Pie, I Like Cake (1939): starts at 145 bpm, is up to 175 half way through, and fi...

Original swing era songs with edits

I'd hate to be accused to "thread drift" so I'll start a new one on this... Did you ever notice that the following swing era songs have edits in them (at least in my CD versions - I have no idea what the original discs were like)? Gene Krupa - Kick It (1941). At 0:57 it cuts off to ...

This thread just won't die, will it? Slim Galliard - Hit That Jive Jack Removed a chunk of the "noodley" section near the end. This is one I've done as well, my edit clocks in at 3:20. It's a tricky edit because the tempo varies a lot - after the "guitar noodling" it is much slow...

Re: 2007-06-27 @ Nick's Nightclub in Alexandria, VA

Sorry if this seems snarky, but this doesn't seem like it would be a properly licensed CD. I know we're all probably tired of yakking about copyright by now, but I definitely hope all DJs here actually own the music they are playing. How about all those European labels that don't pay a penny in lic...

I seem to remember a Guest DJ playing a very good, more recent version by Johnny Guarnieri on Yehoodi Radio. Mary Ann?

Many of his good tracks (such as "Christopher Columbus", "Between 18th and 19th on Chestnut Street", "Swingin' on Nothin'") are only available on one CD collection each, making it quite expensive to collect everything. So, in this case you might have to rely on "ot...

I can warmly recommend Jazz Greats 33: "Bob Crosby - The Dixieland Band". It has excellent sound (by John R.T. Davies). In fact, I can warmly recommend everything in this British, out-of-print series. Some of the discs are listed in this organissimo post.
