I get to close a 5 hour marathon fundraiser dance this Saturday - Speakeasy theme, everybody will play a lot of Charleston, I expect folks to be dead tired by 1 am when I go on, however I'm looking forward to it. Three Words: "TANDEM BLUES CHARLESTON" hehehe We had a notoriously bad dance...

In Dallas we have the ability to OPEN and CLOSE the night. Since we usually Dj the whole night. 3 hours, if you screw up there is no relief pitcher to come bail you out. If I had to pick I would prefer the later set. I actually like DJ'ing the whole night instead of 60 to 90 minute shifts. I think I...

This is lazy to ask this here instead of just looking myself, but does Live365 have the ability to listen to past shows or time shift in anyway. I was thinking maybe that would be one of their subscriber services?

...snip... 3. my personal peeve - traditional blues songs with incessant hard breaks. these are great to listen to, but annoy the heck out of me when i am dancing. this has a lot to do with my own ideas of musicality, but a room full of people "hitting" 24 breaks in a row is not something...

I know you were off your game, but I still had a great time Saturday night. You played some stuff we haven't touched in many moons (Hucklebuck, Buena Sera). But, back to the real question, what do you do when you are not on your game? I hate that feeling, it feels like I spend three minutes looking ...

So I now have a 160GB disc installed in an external encloser so I can use it wherever I want (1394 and USB 2, total cost $150). I have 'backed up' all of my music from my HP DEC100 and my desktop (about 30gb). And have gotten Ultratagger to work with the MP3 Tags as well as renaming the files to Art...

I have done it before and i...

When I have the opportunity to spin for a "Blues" event I will usually mix it up with the likes of Jay McShann, Julia Lee, BB King, Gene Harris, and throw in some local Texas Blues from the likes of Al DuPree and Robin Bank$. I will also toss in a variety of vocals from the 50's 60's like ...

I too have been considering making this step. The techno stuff doesn't bother me, as a matter of fact, thats the fun part to me. The part that concerns me is the creative part of DJ'ing. With the books in front of me, I am visually triggered sometimes to a song or CD as I am thumbing thru. I am afra...

Well, to add more confusion to the puzzle. I just purchased two Past Perfect sets at Half-Priced books. The Boxes all say German product. The plastic wrap had a 'Product in England' sticker on them. I picked up the 5 disc Diana Washington and Lionel Hampton sets. Half price books was having a 20% of...

Oh yeah, Lindyfest....

It was great to hear sets from the Peters, Mike, George, and Kevin. Unfortunately, I think I missed every one of Playpus' sets. It was an honor just to be on the same bill as these folks.
